Francis Ngannou’s potential next boxing opponent revealed by Anthony Joshua’s manager, Eddie Hearn.
On October 28, Francis Ngannou made his debut in the boxing ring. The Cameroonian took on WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. For 10 rounds, Ngannou gave the Gypsy King a hard time, even sending him to the mat. In the end, it was Tyson Fury who came out on top by split decision. For many, it was the ‘Predator’ who should have emerged victorious.
“I’ve contacted Francis Ngannou’s team. Just to let you know that we’re ready to discuss a fight between Francis Ngannou and AJ. I’ve never heard back from them. Knowing the business, I’d say Fury and Ngannou would probably agree. As for the post-Fury-Usyk situation, it’s already been decided.”
He continued, “If I’m Francis Ngnanou, there are only three things I can do. I fight AJ, I fight Wilder or I fight Fury. After that first fight, he’ll think he can beat Fury. But there’s no reason to fight anyone else, he can really lose to anyone in the top 50 heavyweights. So you have to cash in at this stage. There are really only three fights to cash in at the level he wants. I think Francis Ngannou will fight at the PFL in the spring or summer of 2024. Then he’ll fight Tyson Fury at the end of the year. I think that’s the state of mind of the team.”
Before the rematch with Ngannou, Tyson Fury is scheduled to face Oleksandr Usyk. Their first meeting will take place on February 17.
