Simon Jordan and Frank Warren have clashed in furious argument over Tyson Fury’s comments in the wake of his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury suffered the first defeat of his professional career on Saturday night, losing on a split decision to the Ukrainian in their undisputed heavyweight title fight in Saudi Arabia.

Fury was knocked down in the ninth round but somehow survived to eventually lose via the judges’ scorecards – handing his WBC title to Usyk in the process.

Usyk now holds every major belt in the heavyweight division and is the first undisputed champion in more than two decades.

In the aftermath of his defeat, Fury claimed that the judges sided with Usyk due to the ongoing Ukraine war with Russia – comments which were widely criticised after the fight.

On Tuesday, talkSPORT host Simon Jordan clashed with Fury’s promoter Warren, who claimed his fighter’s bipolar condition was responsible for his controversial comments.

“Tyson is bipolar, it is a serious mental illness. One of the symptoms on the NHS website is ‘making decisions or saying things that are out of character’,” said Warren.

“He isn’t a thug. He hasn’t hit anybody, a couple of things have been said because you say what is in your head.”

Jordan hit back: “I understand Frank, but does this mean when Tyson and those around him go off on disrespectful, insulting and diminishing comments – does this mean that we have to feel sorry for Tyson because he has bipolar?

“We have to sit and prise that into our thinking and give him a pass on it?”

Warren responded: “No, no one is saying that. Whatever his team say isn’t Tyson. You could prefix it by saying he has bipolar.

“No one has said how the fighters embraced each other and how Tyson kissed him about three times.”

Warren then turned the conversation to Fury’s ban on talkSPORT, who he has refused to speak due to comments made on the station following the collapse of the Usyk fight for its original date in early 2023.

Jordan questioned Warren over the ban, adding: “I don’t feel that what you are pushing back against is unfair comment.

“I understand that some are trying to put the boot in because he has lost now

“I also think that the way Tyson Fury has engaged and the ban that has been put on talkSPORT is preposterous. I have been a major advocate of his over the years.

“I have had to listen to Tyson’s disposition on [me] losing money and what I am etc. And there comes a point where people are getting fed up with it.”

Warren then responded: “I find it very simplistic. If he is continuously getting stick, he doesn’t have to speak to you.

“He is under no obligation to speak to you, and some fighters don’t even talk to the press.”

Warren has confirmed Fury plans to trigger a rematch clause in his contract with Usyk, with a second fight scheduled for October.

However, it won’t be an undisputed heavyweight title fight, with Usyk set to be stripped of the IBF title in the coming weeks to make way for mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic.
